The Turkish government continues to provide humanitarian assistance to families affected by the earthquake in Herat province, western Afghanistan. According to a statement by the provincial Red Crescent on Wednesday, Turkey has delivered 620 tons of aid materials to local authorities.

The shipment includes flour, tents, blankets, wheelchairs, health packages, and essential household items. The supplies arrived in Herat via Turghondi port and were prepared for distribution by the provincial Red Crescent officials.

Mawlavi Abdul Latif Sabet, the operational deputy of the provincial Red Crescent Secretary, stated, “This is the ninth humanitarian aid shipment we have delivered for families affected by the earthquake.”

The 6.3-magnitude earthquake that struck Herat in October last year resulted in over 1,400 deaths and the destruction of thousands of homes. Turkey’s aid provides crucial support in meeting the basic needs of earthquake-affected families.
