Relations between the two nations entered a period of severe tension following the outbreak of conflict in Gaza in October 2023. Recently, the dispute reached a new dimension after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued warnings regarding diplomatic initiatives aimed at halting regional clashes and potential provocations that could sabotage a ceasefire.

Speaking after the Israeli government signaled its determination to continue its struggle against Iran and its regional proxies, Fidan pointed out that Israel always requires an "enemy" figure in its regional strategy. Noting that not only the current government but also certain opposition circles have adopted language directly targeting Turkiye, Fidan warned that this situation has become a systematic strategy rather than a temporary rhetoric.
