Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has invited European energy companies to invest in the country, stressing that they do not need U.S. licenses to do so.

Highlighting the steady increase in oil production since the beginning of the year, Maduro underlined that Venezuela’s economy is on a growth path with a target of 9% GDP expansion.

The president urged Europe not to submit to Washington’s pressure, saying, “The colonial times are over. Venezuela is a safe and profitable destination for investment.”

He emphasized that the country’s doors are open to investors from Europe and all around the world, noting that the dedication of Venezuelan oil workers continues to strengthen the foundations of the nation’s energy sector.
