The Lake Lucerne Summit, held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, has hosted a critical development in global diplomacy. Following high-level contacts between U.S. and Iranian delegations on the sidelines of the summit, it was announced that the parties have taken concrete steps toward reconciliation.

In a joint statement issued by Qatar and Pakistan, it was reported that the U.S. and Iran have established a roadmap to reach a final agreement within a 60-day timeframe. One of the most notable outcomes of the talks was the decision to establish a "de-confliction unit" aimed at ending military operations in Lebanon.

New "Communication Line" for the Strait of Hormuz
Another development concerning regional security took place regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The parties announced the creation of a special direct communication line to ensure the safety of commercial shipping and to prevent potential misunderstandings. Under this agreement, Iran committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of commercial vessels between the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.

100-Minute Strategic Meeting
The implementation of the previously signed "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" was discussed during a 100-minute meeting led by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. During the meeting, it was decided to establish a high-level committee to provide political oversight of the mediation process.

This newly formed committee will closely monitor critical issues such as Iran’s nuclear program, the management of sanctions, and methods for resolving potential disputes. It will also oversee the activities of expert working groups and manage the process leading to the final agreement targeted within 60 days.

"The Process is Moving Forward in a Constructive Atmosphere"
The joint statement emphasized that the talks in Bürgenstock took place in a highly productive atmosphere, noting that technical discussions will continue throughout the week to clarify the details. Mediating countries Qatar and Pakistan expressed their satisfaction with the willingness shown by the U.S. and Iran toward a peaceful resolution.

Both countries emphasized that they would continue to play a facilitating role in ending conflicts through diplomatic means and remain ready to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the process.
