Turkey Approves Extension of Its Troops' Mission in Lebanon under UNIFIL
The Turkish Grand National Assembly on Tuesday approved a presidential memorandum to extend the deployment of Turkish troops serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for an additional two years.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly on Tuesday approved a presidential memorandum to extend the deployment of Turkish troops serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for an additional two years.
The memorandum, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, notes that Turkey participates in UNIFIL in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted on August 11, 2006.
According to the memorandum, the mandate of Turkish forces in Lebanon will be extended for an additional two years starting from October 31, 2025.
Turkey continues to contribute to UNIFIL in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
