Across Morocco, citizens took to the streets to celebrate the ceasefire agreement reached in the Gaza Strip.
According to a statement by the Moroccan Committee for the Support of Ummah Causes (a civil society organization), more than 110 demonstrations were held in 58 cities on Friday.The rallies were organized under the slogan “Gaza Has Triumphed.” Major gatherings took place in Casablanca, Tetouan, Taza, and Inezgane.Alongside Morocco, several Arab countries — including Yemen and Mauritania — also witnessed demonstrations and celebrations marking the end of two years of Israeli attacks on Gaza. The ceasefire was welcomed regionally and internationally.Early Friday morning, the Israeli government approved the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in line with U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan.On Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an understanding on the first stage of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange after four days of indirect negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the participation of Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, under U.S. supervision.The agreement came into effect at noon on Friday (12:00 p.m. Jerusalem time).
According to Israel’s official broadcasting authority, Hamas will release living Israeli captives within 72 hours, while Israel will free 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 detainees arrested in Gaza after the 2023 war.
